Liturgy
Groups
A
number of different parish groups all come together to celebrate
Mass. Find out about these groups here.
Altar
Servers
The
servers assist the priest on the sanctuary during Mass and are
members of the Guild of St Stephen. New altar servers are always
welcome - women, men, girls and boys.
St
Winefride's Choir
The choir is made up of all age groups and we provide
music for Mass on Sunday mornings, additional 'special' services and
weddings. We meet to practice on Monday evenings at 7.15pm in church
when everyone is welcome.
For further
details contact Teresa Norris on 01509-506688.
Mass
and Church Care Ministries
Everyone
is welcome to participate in Mass ministries: welcoming, reading,
and taking part in the preparation of gifts.
New
recruits are always welcome for the church care ministries: the Flower
Guild, the church cleaning, the brasses, the sacred
vessels, the laundry and the money collectors and
counters. All these roles are vital to keep
the church going and everyone who participates is
warmly thanked.
Faith-sharing
groups and activities
There
is a range of different groups that meet regularly to share our faith
through prayers, devotions, services and discussions. Find out more
about these different groups here.
Rosary group
St
Winefride's Rosary Group was started in 2001, and it has
continued ever since. We meet every Monday at 2.15p.m. to
say the Rosary and have a cup of tea in the Presbytery.
Everyone is welcome even if you can only come sometimes.
Contact
the Presbytery if you want to know more.
Padre
Pio group
This
group meets on the last Friday of every month in church
at 7.00 p.m. with prayers offered to St Pio. All are
welcome.
For
further information on St Pio, visit: www.padrepio.org.uk
or contact Robert Grimley on 01509-504095.

sucessive days, asking for special graces.
The
Novena Group meets at 7.00p.m. in church every Thursday.
Union of
Catholic Mothers (UCM)
UCM
Notice
At
our meeting in July the members of St Winefride's UCM voted to
disband the group. This decision was made after a lot of thought and discussion,
but became inevitable when no-one felt able to be nominated as
president of the group. The members did, however, decide to re-form
in September under a different name. We will continue to meet in the
spirit of fellowship and friendship which has become strong over our
time together, working to support the needs of our own parish. Our
first meeting will be held on Tuesday 16th September in the Council
Offices, Charnwood Road.
We hope to welcome new members to our group.
The Bereavement Support Group
This
group has only just formed. We are a group of people who wish to help
anyone who has been bereaved. You can get in touch with any of the
group by ringing the Presbytery and speaking to Father Michael or Breda.
Social
activities
St
Winefride's has a large number of social groups and activities which
are welcome to everyone. Find out more about what you can get
involved in here.
St
Winefride's Bingo Group

most Wednesdays at Shepshed Council Offices, Charnwood Road.
Eyes down at 8:00 p.m.

Walking
Group
Parish
walks provide a great opportunity for people to meet, get a bit of
exercise and enjoy the lovely countryside surrounding
Shepshed! Walks are held on Bank Holidays and other holidays
throughout the year. Check the news & events section or the
weekly newsletter regularly for details of the next parish walk,
including meeting times and routes.
Fairtrade
Group
Fairtrade
produce guarantees that a fair price is received by the producers of
the goods. A group of young people at St Winefride's decided to get
together to promote and sell fairtrade produce. They have a
store once a month and any excess profits are donated to their chosen
charity, currently Let The Children Live. Everyone is welcome
to join the group.
Contact either Teresa Norris or Nathan Rush in church.
Youth
activities
Children's
Liturgy Group
This group provides input with children aged between 4
- 11 years during some Sunday masses. The children are taken out
of church at the start of mass to have the day's liturgy delivered in
a format appropriate for them. They return to church at the offertory
procession.
The adults delivering the liturgy are all volunteers
from within the parish.
For further
details contact Teresa Norris on 01509-506688.
Young People's Masses and music group
On the 3rd Sunday of the month, the children
and people of the parish provide the music, singing and carry out all
ministries during Sunday mass. Readings
are taken from a children's lectionary and prayers are
written especially for the service.
The music group is made up of adults and children of
all ages and children/young people are invited to lead the
singing.
The adults leading the services are volunteers from
within the parish.

The group is a joint group with the parishes of St
Mary's and Sacred Heart in Loughborough. The sessions are held
on Sunday nights during term time at St Mary's church hall, Ashby Road,
Loughborough.
There are two age groups that meet on alternate weeks.
Juniors must be in school years 4 - 6 and seniors in school
years 7 or above.
